Once he'd been certain that the devastating beauty was indeed his little Devon, every bit of Blake's complete and utter adoration for the girl came crashing back. Oh, he'd known exactly where she and Mallorie had gotten to, and what their embarrassing situation was, but the woman had called in one last favor before skipping town, and that had been to ensure through some legal entanglement that if Blake was somehow able to make contact with Devon, even to somehow magically donate to her education, he'd be buried in an avalanche of legal woes.
The loophole, of course, was that he hadn't done a thing. Since it was Devon who'd made contact, he was in the clear and, soon enough, so was she. All of which had the happy ending of his beloved baby girl being back where she belonged.
Of course, it was plain quickly enough that Devon was no longer a child, having grown into a gorgeous young lady-- enough so that even her dear father found himself frustrated during their first few weeks of being reacquainted by how attractive he found her. Blake had always had a yen for younger women, and Devon was exactly his type. It wasn't terribly long, though, before the girl helped him... cope with those feelings in a most unexpected way.
And so life settled into an unusual, but very comfortable new normal. Although Blake preferred not to know all of the specifics of Devon's extracurricular activities, he had subtly set some ground rules: above all, she was to be absolutely discreet, she was to be safe and healthy, and when it was Daddy-daughter time, Blake requested that he not be able to detect (to put it delicately) any sign that his precious girl was not his alone.
He couldn't help but notice when Devon slipped onto his desk that she did look a little unkempt, and smiled. "Is it that late already? And you're just getting home? Looks like study group was... intense."
